What year vehicle are you working on? Vehicles earlier than 1949 have a resistor mounted under the instrument panel that needs to be bypassed if you use a modern coil with an internal resistor. Be sure to wire the coil properly for the polarity of your 6V electrical system. If you are keeping the positive ground system, you will want to have the + terminal of the coil connected to the distributor.

The "Blue Flame" coil was/is often recommended as one of the best (i.e. the late Jim Lindner and ignition rebuilder Charles Schwedler among others). I assume its still in production, it has an internal resistor, however I don't know if its made for 6 volt systems (my car came with a 12 volt system).

The UC 14t is the secondary line of coils by Standard, the UC 14x is the premium line and supposed to handle heat better.
