VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Car crazy:

I thought I had covered all bases in my inquiry, by listing the part number of the fan, but apparently not.

My engine has the fan mounted on the generator, not the crank.

Do you know if your V860 engine came out of a 1939 Ford Deluxe Passenger Car? If it did, the fan would be mounted to the front of the crankshaft. If the engine is out of a 1939 Standard Passenger Car, the fan would be mounted to the front of the generator pulley. Fans for 1939 Deluxe and 1940 Passenger cars would be rare as few of these cars were built with the V860 engine.

I have a fan believed to be for a 1937 V860 that mounts to the front of the generator pulley. I sent you an email with the dimensions of this fan. If you can use it, please let me know.

As some of you may be aware, I am restoring a 1939 V8 60HP engine that will be donated to the EFV8 Foundation museum when I ride off into the sunset, or before. I am now 91.

The engine and stand are now basically complete EXCEPT for a correct fan, which continues to allude me.

I have checked with Obsolete Ford, Bob Baxter, 3rd Generation Auto Parts (Michael Driskell) and they don't have one, nor do they have any leads on one. I Keep my eyes peeled on eBay and have also inquired of many of the vendors, especially the ones that list 60HP stuff for sale, and have had no luck in finding the CORRECT fan.

To make certain what the fan looks like, having bought a fan that had a Ford parts tag with the correct part number on it in pencil only to find out it was not correct, I finally obtained a copy of the ONLY drawing the
Ford archives has on the 73-8600 fan. The green book or the 39 Ford parts manual show no picture, only the dimensions. Now, I KNOW what I am looking for.

The correct fan has four (4) blades which are shaped the same as the 37-39 passenger car fan, and it has a 4 1/8" hub, which sets it apart, appearance wise, from other fans right off. The fan has blades with a 15.75" diameter, which is 1/4" wider than most.

Why this fan is so elusive stumps me, unless they have all been cut down to make 32 fans with the 3 3/4" hub, which I find hard to believe.

Anyhow, I really need a correct fan for this display engine ASAP due to my age. I have cobbled a fan together from other fans which will end up having a 4.25" hub, but I'd really prefer to have a correct fan. The way the fan hub is made, mounting it on a lathe and machining it down would be very difficult, not to mention welding it back together.

Thanks for any help you can give me. Sorry to be so long winded but I felt a little history and correct dimensions are necessary here.
