A local artisan who works wonders with headliners needs to see my '35 for an estimate. This week the temperature hovers between 95° and 100 degrees. The liquids are all topped up. Is it safe to try to travel 8 miles on city streets?

In my experience, Ford Flathead V-8s like to run at coolant temperatures about 100 degrees F hotter than the outside ambient temperature. If it is 100F where you are driving, you can expect your coolant temp to be about 200F. As you know the boiling point of plain water is 212F. You can elevate the boiling point of your coolant by using a 50/50 solution of antifreeze/distilled water to 250 degrees F or more.

Thank you. I've also heard I should take the hood off.
