VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

The engine in my 1935 Ford sedan will not crank. The battery is not dead and the cables are not corroded. And the starter and floor starter button are new. The ammeter shows a slight voltage draw when I press the starter button, but there is no click. What am I missing?

Is this a new problem?? When was the last time it started??

Try placing it in 3rd gear and rock it back and forth vigorously. The Bendix on the starter may be locked up.

Thanks for your response. I last started the car about a week ago. I then installed a new starter floor button, but that didn't make any difference.

I did put it into gear and rocked the car yesterday. However, I'll do that again as you suggest, this time in third gear.

Try jumping around the switch, unfortunately new doesn't always mean good.

Rock what back and forth, the whole car? Do I need people outside to rock the car from the bumpers while I simultaneously sit in the car and try to start it in third? I drive a '51 that's not cranking or starting right now, and I'm not sure if it's the battery, or an electrical issue or something else. Previously my car had a problem with the voltage regulator, but that was fixed.

Just put it in 3rd gear and rock it back and forth, a second set of hands rocking would probably be beneficial. IF the bendix is locked up this should free it up.

Mr51Fotd, I know that you are new to the Forum, so take this as advice, not a reprimand. When you have a problem, it is better to start your own topic. The 1935 Ford has a floor starter switch that mechanically connects the battery to the starter. The 51 Ford has a solenoid that is activated by the ignition switch, so the action plans to isolate the problem would be different. Please start a new topic and give us your symptoms and what you have tried.

The rocking the car solution that 1931 Flamingo suggested is used when the starter bendix gear is locked to the flywheel. When this is the case, you can hear a short clunk from the starter, but the engine does not turn over. To free the bendix gear, you put the transmission in 3rd gear and try to push the car backwards by pushing and releasing. When the gear releases from the flywheel, you will hear a big bang and the car will move backward. It usually takes 2 or more people to rock the car. If you can push the car backward, while the transmission is in 3rd gear, you should see the motor turn if the gear is not locked to the flywheel.

Glory be...! I got out my long crow bar and wedged it under my right rear tire, after put it in third gear. Then I vigorously rocked the car back and forth, and heard a "click." I got into the car, it turned over and started right away! Wow!
