Page 629 of the Green book has the speedometer cable lengths used on Ford cars and trucks. The 1939 cable and shaft assembly should be 65.92" from one end of the cable to the other and the casing should be 65". The Mercury cable and shaft assembly is 70" if you need longer than that you will have to go with a truck cable.

The longest ready cable and housing I found in my stack of catalogs was 72 inches. If that is sufficient, try C&G 800 266-0470. Speedometer shops are scarce today now that speedometers are electronic. We get repairs and parts from Bob's Speedometer in Michigan. I am sure they can make up a cable and housing when you give them the necessary measurement. Reach them at 800-592-9673. Good people, fair prices.

Any good speedometer shop can make you one any size you want. If you don't have one locally, Rusty at Speedometer Service in Colorado Springs will fix you up. https://www.speedoservice.com/

I just installed a T5 tranny in my '39 Deluxe Coupe and the stock speedo cable is 4"-6" too short. Any ideas on a cable that will fit the T5 & the stock speedometer?
