The pin that holds the grooved sleeve to the rear axle pinion and the prop shaft has sheered. Has anybody any thoughts as to why this has happened and could it cause damage if not replaced

does the splined sleeve have any play on the drive shaft ? and also on the pinion shaft if there is any metal left in the rear end housing, it will cause problems be sure to drain the rear oil and check oil with magnet I would think this happen because of abuse ANY PHOTOS? 1937RAGTOPMAN

Also the front of the drive shaft has to move freely in and out of the U-joint. If you do not have the proper amount of lube and the proper lube in the clam sh*ll the drive shaft can sticking in the U-Joint.

the shaft will eventually ride up into the u joint and make matters worse, replace the pin!
