It took me about 6 months of thinking and planning before I slotted that underseat pan that comes horizontal then curves up and makes the outside of the seat back. I really don't like cutting holes and slots unless there is a very good reason. Maybe in this case a second separate belt from pillar to lap might work. That way if the post folds at least the lap will be on a separate system. (Only to trap me under the folded post! Yikes.) My car is built very stock but for touring not showing and I like the safety of seat belts and think I'd like shoulder harness even more. {Edit to add} My experience is only with front belts only so far. -VT/JeffH This message was edited by VT/JeffH on 12-26-19 @ 2:40 PM 51woodie 12-23-2019 @ 7:02 AM reply profile send p.m. Senior Posts: 561 Joined: Jan 2017 Al, If you look at the middle picture of my post, you will see that by using the 90 deg. mounting brackets, you only need to cut a slit in the carpet, then push the carpet down over the bracket. So no holes to drill in the carpet. I installed the brackets, installed the carpet, then felt the position of the "lumps" where the brackets were and used and OLFA knife (in picture) to cut the slot just long enough to fit over the bracket. Personally I would hesitate to use it for the 3 point belts. VT/JeffH 12-22-2019 @ 5:27 PM reply profile send p.m. New Member Posts: 153 Joined: May 2010 I found the really tricky part on my 35 Fordor was getting the front belts from the floor up through the bottom pan of the seat to come between the seat bottom and back. I had to slot the bottom metal pan which I hated to do, and screw in an undersized Delrin block that the belts come through so they don't rub the hole in the metal seat bottom. I used Julioano's lap belt setup with the under floor plates but might be switching to their shoulder harness setup this summer even if it's not advertised for Fordor's. -VT/JeffH This message was edited by VT/JeffH on 12-22-19 @ 5:30 PM nelsb01 12-22-2019 @ 2:02 PM reply profile send p.m. Senior Posts: 1100 Joined: Oct 2009 Remember to make a hole cutting tool if you have to go through carpet. I used a 3/8 inch dia piece of copper pipe and sharpened one end and used it to cut a circular hole in the carpet. Tap it several times with a hammer. If you dont do something like this, when you drill, you run (no pun intended) the risk of running the carpet if one of the threads wraps itself around the drill. 51woodie 12-22-2019 @ 10:37 AM reply profile send p.m. Senior Posts: 561 Joined: Jan 2017 I got my belts from Seatbelts Plus for my '46 Coupe and was pleased with the belts I bought. As far as attaching, I went through to floor pans at locations that matched up with the back edge of the seats. You can buy mounting kits, but I only bought the 90 degree bracket to connect the belt to the floor. I used Gr5 bolts with locking nuts to fasten the 90 deg. brackets to the pan, as well as 1/8"x3x3 "backer" plates on the bottom side of the floor pan. Seatbelts Plus shows a diagram on how to measure the belts for the proper length. Do not fasten them through the frame. You can buy belt hardware kits that come with the bolts, nuts and large washers to mount the belts. Check a company called Seat Belts Plus (www.seatbeltsplus.com). They have the belts and mounting kits.
