As has been mentioned previously, Drake makes nice mounts. His bolts in every application I have attempted - are too short. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

The rear mounts on a 46 Ford are different from a 39 Ford.

Thanks for the info. I assume that the trans/engine alignment won't be affected? I'll try to use the original bolts on the trans. I'm trying to keep as many original items as possible as long as they're in good condition. Guess I'll place my order today>

You may need Drake's B-6047-B "Extra Long Motor Mount Bolts" for the transmission mounts. Or reuse the original bolts. That was my experience with my 1939 Deluxe.

TomO advised me to lift engine with a piece of 2x4 across the front of the oil pan. Worked fine, oil pan can carry the weight. No need to disconnect the hoses. As you said, only need to lift enough to get the donut out and new in, hoses will flex that much.

Thanks Tom that's what I was looking for. I'll probably order from Drakes. I'll be sure to check the new against the old before I go into the whole thing. It looks like a straight forward switch. I have a Quick jack lift to get the car up high enough but where is a good place to locate my jack to lift the engine which I assume has to be done enough to remove the lower donut? Will it be necessary to disconnect hoses or trans to do the job? Thanks to you and all the others for your help. Hopefully when these get replaced all the chatter will be gone. I'll probably order trans mounts, as well, just to be on the safe side.

I replaced the mounts on my '40 a couple years ago and did run into a problem. My memory is a little fuzzy on this, but I think the problem was that the shoulder on the provided bolts was too long, the nut would bottom on the shoulder before the rubber cushions were snugged-up. But I do recall that there was a simple solution: I just re-used my original bolts, and everything went together fine.
