The steering wheel has significant play and the steering is extremely difficult.

Begin with checking condition of tie rods. Jack up the front end ... both wheels off floor. Try to move wheels back and forth.

hi first check tire pressure, then, check your tie rods for play and drag link for play check for back lash in the steering box, it may need a adjustment, or rebuilding, have someone move the steering wheel back and forth and see if the play is in the box or else where, study the Ford manual. if you can remove the drag link from steering box, try to swing the wheels back and forth to see if the king pins are frozen,or stiff or have excessive play, also you also may have a frozen tie rod end, or worn, and if not,and also while at the same time to see if king pins are worn, you have to diagnosis the problem, my 2 cents 37Ragtopman
