actually I did tap on them and used a little 'cats paw' pry bar to pop them off...mission accomplished! I'll post some photos in a week or so after I'm done with the re-paint. thanks to both of you

As strange as it may sound, try tapping on the arm post. Sometimes that may free it up.

Most of them are a press fit over a splined hub. More often than not, they are firmly stuck and require some "persuasion".

I bought the green 49-51 shop manual and page 201 talks about lifting off the wiper arms...well, mine don't 'lift' quite that easily. Rather than brute force, I thought I better ask you guys...any trick or are they just stuck after many years?
