There is a procedure that should be followed for setting full floating rod bearings that he may not be familar with. Give us more details on the problem your rebuilder is having.

Many of today's would-be shops have never seen the floating bearings in old Fords that requires correct clearances on both the crankshaft journals and the "big end" of the rods, if your engine is so equipped. If your '36 has poured (babbit) bearings, special experience is required.
