they make an adapter to use your 68/11A distributor on a 59AB front cover instead of the welding job someone else did. almost all V8 parts suppliers have this adapter. I would build one of the 11A distributors, send it and the correct coil for it to skip haney and have him rebuild them both, I think he will do that, I know he does an EXCELLENT job with the coils. he probably has done 12 or so for me, even converted some to 12volt neg ground

In order to use the 2 bolt pancake distributor, you will have to replace the timing gear cover with one that will accept that distributor.

Well.... thank a million. My intention was to have a spare distributor and now I can. Suppose I'll be on the look out for one of those other distributors you mentioned, but for now I'll use what I have. Mike

The engine you have uses a different style of distributor. Posted before you edited. That may be the key. I hink that the block is a 59A which is a later item. Thanks Mike

This might be of help to you > https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Flathead-Distributor-Drive-Adapter,6003.html Info If you've ever tried to put a 1937-1941 distributor on a 1942-1948 engine, you know you need this adapter. CNC steel construction.

Here I tried to photograph the front cover hole to see the camshaft face.
