What is that expensive process called that is used to treat an exhaust manifold to maintain a nice appearance?

I had a pair of Fentons done in an aluminum coating over 30 yearsago by Jet Hot and they still look new or at least no surface rust or burn off. I have a satin black coating on my '37 original manifolds they did 10 years ago and still looks new.

I think I recall the process is called "porcelainizing".

Porcelain is a completely different process from the ceramic coatings being applied now. Many of the very old high end cars, Packard, Cadillac, to name a few had porcelain coated exhaust manifolds.

A fairly recent development in powder coating are high temperature coatings that work well on exhaust systems, including manifolds, and it is likely less costly than ceramic coating.
