Right , that was a typo on my part 4.1 drive shaft turns = 1 wheel turn!

drive shaft turns 4.1 times to turn the wheels one time.

That's what I believed. A 4:10 rear means the drive shaft turns 41 times to turn the wheels one time. Right?

The drive shaft turn 3.73 to the axle turning once . At3730 engine rpm the axle turns 1000 rpm giving us the mechanical advantage to move a 3000lb car with under a 100lbs. Of torque and horsepower.

I'm getting differing answers. Question: Does 3:73 mean the wheels turn 3.73 turns to one turn of drive shaft, or drive shaft turns 3.73 turns to 1 turn of drive shaft? I've been told both; which is right?
