It seems that ever photo I see shows variations in the trim strip location on these convertibles. In many the rear strip appears lower than the door strip, in others it seems to be inline with the front one. In some the rear side panel strip extends into the area next to the seat back and into the front verticle retaining piece while others show visible terminations similar to the front door strips. Can anyone enlighten me on what the originals looked like?

If you are talking about the stainless trim strip that runs from the front of the hood to the back of the car, they should all line up.

Sorry for my lack of clarity - I'm referring to the the interior narrow strips - plastic and bright metal. The door piece is between two narrow grooves on the door interiorpanel.

The bright trim inside the plastic backing on my '47 convertible run the length of the backing on the door panels.
