HAS ANYBODY USED ONE OF THESE ? I KNOW IT WONT FIT IN THE ORIGINAL BATTERY TRAY/BOX. HOW DID YOU INSTALL IT ? OR DID YOU JUST BUILD A NEW BATTERY TRAY/BOX ? MY IDEA WAS TO WELD UP A NEW TRAY.

Most guys mount the Optima in an old original battery case. There's been discussions on here and Ford Barn on the procedure. Basically you can hide the optima in an old case.

I built an exact replica of the original battery case out of thin plywood so it fits the battery frame perfectly. Painted it flat black and glued three white caps to the top as per six volts. My Optima fit in at an angle - blocked securely in place with scr*p sponge rubber. Glued the Ford decal on the side and it looks very original.

If you're not worried about originality, get a 7.65 cal. ammo box at a military surplus outlet, and take off the lid. The optima battery will fit in snugly and it can be bolted to your battery tray. Gene

yes, in my opinion they are far and away better than any other 6v battery available. The best prices are probably through Amazon. Gene.

Summit Racing has them for $112.97 with free shipping. Yes, they are worth it!
1934 Ford's since 1972

I wouldn't use anything else. My 6v Optimas and my 12v Yellow top lasted about 7 years. Less for the 12v Redtop. Plus, they don't spit acid all over the firewall.

I used a bracket that I found at my local hardware store. together with a couple long J-bolts. hardly original but a quick fix. https://www.hardwareworld.com/p38h31f/Barn-Door-Closed-Bar-Holder-Zinc ps ignore the attached pic. I can't figure out how to remove it.

This is my solution for mounting the Optima battery. Easy disconnect from under the car. Easy to attach a charger to when needed
