My 39 pickup has a new correct sending unit in the tank but the back of the gauge is so tight I can't get my head in between the steering column and handbrake. The handbrake unit can be undone on the firewall but it is also attached to the back of the dash, unreachable. I'd like to ohm out the gas gauge but can't get to it. Anyone been here and done that? Thanks much!

Assuming your speedometer is on the right and the gauge cluster is on the left. If so try removing the speedometer and then accessing the rear of the gauge cluster through the hole where the speedometer was.

Greetings gulfoil, Just want to remind you to disconnect the battery before you start. When the sparks start flying you can really bump your head. Experience maybe? Good luck and Merry Christmas. 42OINK
