The voltage regulators with the wiring information were wartime replacements. The 41 should have the same regulator as the 1940. Engine color could be either green or blue. There was an article on Mercury engine color in the V-8 Times around the middle of the 1990's. I seem to remember that it was in the same issue as the article about Doug Fawk's 41 Mercury Coupe. From what I remember the change was made because they started making Mercury's on the same line as the Fords. The 239 engine was to be painted blue so it was easier to determine if a Ford or Mercury trim was needed. My memory is not as good as it used to be, so the information could be in another issue.

Sorry for being slow, out of commission for a few days. No markings on case, just on terminals, hard to see. pic attached.

It is silver. I do not think it has markings on it but will check.

Hi Tom, Could you check your voltage regulator cover. It should be silver but what kind of lettering does it have on it. Some just have the lettering on it for the 3 terminals but some have extra wording on the cover that says " Ford-Mercury" and the colors of the wires that go on the terminals.

My 41 Merc convertible was produced in August of 41 too. Mine has the 42 hot air heater. Does yours have a radon it. If it does does it have a beige radio face with light brown knobs. Does it have a side mount antenna or overhead antenna?

As I remember, my '41 was produced in August. I am not near the car, but I think it has the 81A heads.

Thank you for letting me know your engine color. Is your 41 Mercury early or late model. Does it have the 81A heads?
