Hey Mike, Do you use a single stage urethane or two stage paint system on your 40s? I've read that single stage may produce better results on solid colors.

Both systems produce good results in the hands of a good painter. Make sure that you let your painter know what look you are striving for. It is easier to get the old time gloss with the single stage and the wet look with the 2 stage, but either look can be obtained with either paint system.

Good morning Bill, I use two stage. Three coats of color, four coats of clear. One coat of clear is pretty much sanded / polished away. I do wet sand between each and every coat. The depth, clarity and gloss I obtain with this method I believe is difficult to match. Take care, Mike
