I have searched forum and looked at 40 Ford book - can't find whether rear ash trays are painted to match dash or woodgrained to match window garnish. Thanks for help. Dick G.

According to the drawing in the dealers sales manual, the DeLuxe back seat ashtrays were wood grained. There is no illustration of the ashtrays in the standard.

I should caution you that some illustrations in the sales are incorrect as they were done way before the cars were coming down the assembly line. Kube may have the most correct answer.

For what is it worth, I have my original rear seat ashtrays and they are are maroon same as the original body color, but not wood grained.

I have a pair of back seat ash trays I took out of an original 40 Ford Deluxe Tudor Sedan and they are wood grained and matched the window garnish moldings.
