I have an original forty standard coupe and not a basket case. Would like to make into a modern driver with about 500hp ford motor preferred with auto or manual. Any input or sources of information is appreciated as I can learn from others experiences. Also will have many original parts.

I think you will find great advice on the HAMB. You won't get much advice on this site at all. What you desire has been done a zillion times so there is a lot of good information "out there". https://www.jalopyjournal.com/ Mike "Kube" Kubarth

As Kube says this site is basically a stock forum. Join Good Guys and you will get all the info you need along with companies that supply the parts. Be prepared to open up your wallet.

Marvin, what you are looking to do has been done for years, especially with the '40coupe which has always been a favorite of the hot-rodders. Today most of those builders have aged out, and their cars are out there in the marketplace. A typical hot rod / street rod sells for half or less of what it cost to build. You can't build a car today without quickly getting under-water financially. If I was in your place, I would start shopping for a car you like. Quicker, cheaper than to build one. Take advantage of the market. And then some guy (or his heirs) will find a buyer for the hotrod they have been trying to sell.

Marvin if you are a first time buyer take someone with you that that has a good knowledge of old cars, especially '40 Fords. That second set of eyes may spot negative things that you may miss in the excitement to make a purchase.
