I don’t have enough history on my coupe to make that determination, so I will leave well enough alone and try to not overthink it Thank you for responding.

One caveat: if your original style fuel pump is either a reproduction or a rebuilt, it’s operating pressure may be stronger than the carb can handle, as the newer operating springs are too strong. The fix is simple, just remove the new spring and replace with the old.

As long as you have the stock Ford mechanical fuel pump, you should be OK. Don't worry about having excessive fuel pressure. Your carburetor and fuel plump were designed to work together.

I just had my Holly 94 carb rebuilt (I was referred to Charlie Schwindler in Orchard Park, NY & he did a great job), but now I’m wondering if I need a fuel pressure regulator. I have a ‘40 Flathead 8BA w/ a mechanical fuel pump. The car runs fine with no issues (except it tends to run hot). Am I overthinking things by considering this or should I leave well enough alone?
