Question, who do I contact to or how does one put a new battery within that case? I converted a script case to hold the Optima, so all I have to do is remove the tar like substance holding the top on, fit the new battery to the case and reinstall the top. What did you use the seal the top back on to the case? I greatly appreciate your responses. If it is a 2LF, the new Optima battery will be taller than the case, requiring the case bottom to be cut out. A 2HF battery will accommodate the new Optima. (A new Optima is about ?” taller than the older Optima). I believe the 2HF replaced the 2LF beginning at model year 1940. My script battery case is 8" high. Just high enough to fit with the battery hold down clamp on. It appears that the older optimas were about 7" tall. So a newer optima (8 1/2" height?) will be too tall to fit inside the box without some alterations. (I looked for my purchase receipt for the battery, and could not find it, yet). I did not find the battery reference numbers that you mentioned. I don't have the date that I redid my battery, but I think it was in 2015, after the Optima grew in size and I had to cut out more of the bottom to get the Optima into the case. I believe that the quoted 8.13" height includes the posts. Be aware that when you cut off the foot of the battery you will probably void the warranty. ( you could always try the "my dog ate it" excuse.) My friend redid his 1939 Ford the year before and he had to remove the bottom of the case and redo the bottom of the battery tray in order to fit the Optima in his car. I might try to get an answer from Optima, if I can shave anything 0ff the bottom? For right now I am using a new non script regular 6V battery. Since it is new I have time to figure out how to proceed with the "old scirpt box. In my experience, the mounting tabs can be shaved, but further than that, I'd consider risky at best. You're best option is to remove the bottom of the Script case, and to mount a skirt to elevate the case to the required height. Note: Even the shaving of mounting tabs may, on a bad day, be cause for refusal of warranty coverage. Alan
