Good Evening, Ken--- Take a look at pgs. 4-2 and 4-3 of the current edition of The 1940 Book. It should answer your question about the # of springs. Something I did NOT know - the # of front spring leaves for passenger cars (all models and body styles ) is 10. Sedan deliveries and station wagons have 11. The # of REAR spring leaves is dependent on body style, ranging between 8-10. This current edition of The 1940 Book was published years ago, so I shall defer to my esteemed colleague, the Honorable Mr. Kubarth, to confirm the above info for you. I'm sure that Mike will also get back to you about Dan's contact info too. Have a nice weekend. Tom

Right, Ken. Looks like the "10 and 10" configuration is correct. But again - that info is based on info from the old edition of The 1940 Ford Book. It may need some "tweaking" in the new edition of the book - maybe not. Mike - am I correct? Is the info on the # of springs still OK, based on your current research? Happy Easter. Tom

Good morning guys! My research indicated that all passenger car models were to be equipped with a ten (10) leaf front spring. Rear springs? Coupes and sedans were to be equipped with an eight (8) or nine (9) leaf spring and convertibles, a ten (10) leaf spring. Extra "heavy" springs were available on all models. In reality, 60HP equipped vehicles often received a nine (9) leaf front spring. Hope this helps...
