What are my thoughts? I never cared for them, always preferring the 6:50 x 16" tires on my restorations. White or black, the larger tire (in my opinion) fits the car better than the stock 6:00's.

There were three outside suppliers to Ford in 1940. Goodrich, Firestone and Goodyear. Ford, of course, also supplied their own factories. I am not certain what is being offered by Coker, etc. but would hazard a guess that they have some correct reproduction tires available. Stock size was 6:00 x 16". Optional size was 6:50 x 16".

Mike and Tom--- I found out a couple months ago that they discontinued the Ford Script tires - bummer! Check out Coker's website - www.cokertire.com. They offer both B.F. Goodrich and Firestone tires in 6.00x16 and 6.50 sizes. Tom, I think you will find something that will work for you. If it was up to me, I'd go with the Firestones. They run about $200.00 (or so) per tire. Good luck. Tom

Were the 6.50x16 tires an option for the 1939 Fords? Ken

What are your thoughts on the radial tires that look like bias ply tires as corectness for judging? Thanks Tom.

Radials in regard to judging? A huge NO. Unless the chassis judge is 100% blind in one eye and can't see a thing out of the other, you WILL receive the maximum deduction for incorrect tires.
