I agree with Steve - you're worrying too much. Heat won't hurt them as they are cold rolled steel. Still, the rods are not that bad. Do as Steve has advised and you'll be fine

I don't know if you're making too big an issue out of it or not, but, were it me, I'd use a 2# hammer, a vise, anvil, lever bar and most importantly 2 beers or so and they'd be good to go!

I was advised by a flathead guy at Ellingsons car Museum in Rogers Mn. to just heat them a bit and try to straighten them that way. Is this a goodidea ? I thought that a macvhine shop would n\have the press and knowledge to do the job without heat. Am I making this a bigger issue than it is ?

Those look like wonderful candidates to straighten. I would not worry much about the bend in the threaded area as it is quite well secured within the block. Me? I'd use them in a heartbeat once straightened. They appear, as many do, to have been within the block when the engine was removed. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Mike, I want to be absolutely certain about the rods. The attached photo shows the rods. Would the rods be good if I have them straightened or would you suggest I find new or used rods ?

That's what I thought. Mine have a slight bend at the threads and I can not get them to fall into place.

NO bends whatsoever. In order to do the task they were intended to do, they must be straight and tight. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Should the anti chatter rods that connect from the engine block to the frame have any slight bends in them. Especially at tje threaded end.?
