Ken I'm a bit confused... Why do I need two sets of gaskets?? Not looking for any freebees.. How much should I send for your core? How do I tell if the 2 cores that I have are any good first? Tks, Randy ask her if she could sell you 2 sets of gaskets for Merc carb. Tell her I sent you. Im not sure what the shipping would be on the carb, but just send what ever is on the PO shipping label. I think its too high for a flat rate box will have to use a bigger box for carb.

That looks like an International Bus and they used a Holley concentric carburetor until 1958 on some engines. Several other manufacturers also used the concentric carburetor.

Cant see the 8:23 pic. Looks like that one is on a 6 cyl and has a govener on it (not useable for you).A 49 carb has an uprite throttle lever and pushes opposite to a 50 or 51. 50 has a throttle lever that points down (not up). 51 has same throttle lever as a 50 BUT late 51 has the choke mechinizm attached to the intake manifold (not up on the carb). Some early 51's used the 50 carb. So theres a late + early 51 version. I will still give you a complete core with the small thread hole you need in the bowl for the shipping cost. What I would do is call Gina at Daytona parts 1-386-427-7108 and ask her if she could sell you 2 sets of gaskets for Merc carb. Tell her I sent you. Im not sure what the shipping would be on the carb, but just send what ever is on the PO shipping label. I think its too high for a flat rate box will have to use a bigger box for carb. What exactly is the difference between the 49/50/51 carb? I have the 50 carb on the car now.. Can the bowl just warp by itself? how do I check it? Your right about being a bit*h about getting the thing put back together correctly. I tried it with one of the two cores that I have. How do I check it for wrapage? id like to try it on the core that I have apart. Is it some thing I can see with my eye? Thanks a bunch! for your help Randy

I'll look and see if I have one with the small hole. You can have it for the cost of my shipping.Yr would not matter 49-51 as all you are going to use is the inside bowl.I'll send it complete so you can see how it comes apart and goes back together.Use long guide screws with cut/off heads to assemble top cover. When its bottomed out it must not rock front to back or its NOT seated right. Its really a bit*h to get on correctly. Call me for more info. 1-203-260-5945 cell. ken ct.

Ken...my car is a 50 Merc. on the top of the carb is a little bitty "50" also. The 2 core's also have that 50 on top. The carb on the car has the little gas inlet hole and the other two have the big inlet. I wonder if the two core bowls are any good? Not sure what to do at this point. funds are short now and I will keep you in mind in the near future. Thanks so much for your help and offer. Randy

I also doubt that any re-builder will use your leaker as a core. If I were you, I would accept Ken's offer of the replacement bowl and have him rebuild your carburetor, or buy his replacement if it is for your year Mercury. The yellow Teflon tape is for sealing natural gas fittings, not for sealing gasoline fittings. I do not know of any thread sealant that works well with the current blends of gasoline.

I dought if D.P. will absorbe the cost of changing the bowl its a major part in there and really nothing can be done with that problem its washed out 1/8" pipe threads short of replacing the inner bowl. What yr Merc is this off of. I have a 49 that I redone a couple of yrs ago and never has been sold. A 50 is diff and a true 51 is diff again. I would take $125 for it if your interested if that would help you. Also not sure which thread is on it,i would have to check it . ken ct
