Hi all, I have a 1933 Ford coup out of Georgia with an Assigned Identification Number of GA680017. Does anybody know how I can track its original build? Jerry

Just guessing, but pretty sure the number you have is an assigned number from the State of Georgia. This is done when there is no title available when the vehicle was purchased. If the vehicle is somewhat original, like it has its original frame, you can look on the driver's side top frame rail near where the steering sector is attached for the number stamped from the factory. It should start with a 5 sided star symbol followed by 18 - xxxxxxx. Clean the area carefully as it was not stamped deeply into the frame and hard sanding could destroy it. This is that number that has been used to try and determine when the vehicle was assembled. If you are looking for a month and day, those records were destroyed in a Ford Archives fire. On a 1933 Ford, the serial number (or VIN) was stamped directly onto the top surface of the left-hand (driver's side) frame rail at the factory.The number is typically located in three places on the rail:Front location: Between the firewall and the radiator (the only spot usually visible without removing the body).Center location: Under the front floorboards. ______________ No signature
