Topic: Bump Steer

My 32 5 window coupe runs great and everything if good. But when I applied the brakes, and hit a bump, the front ent started to shake something terrible. Then it started to steer hard and jerky. Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Something is loose or worn from the steering box forward. Jack the front up and check everything for wear and looseness.
Worn king pins, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, worn ball on the wishbone, tire pressure, etc.
Paul in CT Scary isn't it??

Start with the worn rubber ball on the wishbone mount. It may have deteriorated to the point it is no longer doing the job. Then check the drag link from the steering box to the front spindle. From there go to the tie rod and king pins. Very nice looking 5 window.

Make sure that the steering box is mounted securely to the frame and that none of the mounting fasteners have loosened.
