Can anyone tell me if the 1940 heater and the 1941 heater are the same schematic for the layout on the firewall. I am installing one and have to drill the holes. Also does the end cap on the ignition switch pull off with a lot force? Tried to pull it but not sure how much force is needed. Thanks

Firewalls are very different between a '40 and a '41. So, template for installing heater is by necessity very different. The "end cap" can be pried off (carefully) but you will need to get under its edge / rim. That requires disassembling the mechanism. Mike Kubarth

Mike, Thanks for getting back with me. Do they have a drawing of where the holes go on the firewall.

I'm certain there is a template out there somewhere. Unfortunately I do not have one for 1941. Sorry...

IF YOUR ARE CONNECTING YOUR HEATER TO YOUR IGNITION SWITCH, AND YOUR CAR STILL HAS ITS STOCK WIRING SYSTEM, BEWARE OVERLOADING THE IGNITION SWITCH BECAUSE IT IS NOT PROTECTED BY A CIRCUIT BREAKER OR FUSE. HOWEVER, YOU CAN INCORPORATE A FUSE INTO THE WIRING.

Good to know, what size fuse would be needed?
