I am a retired USAF master sergeant living in northern Japan. I have two classic cars with me; a 1937 Plymouth P4 coupe and 1957 Del Rio Ranch Wagon. The vehicle safety inspection and registration process here in Japan is quite strict. I have helped other service members register their American cars here. I am currently helping a fellow retiree register his 1939 Ford Tudor Standard sedan, and trying to find a source document for the vehicle's specifications. I have a copy of owner's manual which has some specs. I have also found some source info on Vanpelt website; however, the Government of Japan requires reliable source documents such as factory printed materials. Do any of the members here have info on weight (front/rear/total) and gross vehicle weight (front/rear/total)? Information on serial #'s issued to the 1939 models, specifically vehicles equipped with the 91A, 221 cu in flathead motor? And horsepower & torque ratings for the 91A motor as well? I will be waiting on the edge of my seat, and welcome any help that you can provide. Be safe! Cheers! Bill Tuttle

If you want a lot more information you might want to have the owner purchase the V-8 Club's 1938-1939 book. It can be purchased on this site and is a wealth of information for any owner of a '38-'39 Ford. You can also get information from the Benson Ford Research Center in Dearborn, Michigan.
