On my 1938 Ford deluxe convertible sedan both levers that stretch of the rear quarter panels are broken off. Does anyone know where this part would be available? Does anyone have a solution other than replacing the parts?

I do not understand your question, could you please post a photo of the area of the car with the broken part? Tom

Tom, he may be referring to the levers that stretch and lock the top irons in place. If that's the part, I haven't a clue as to who might have them. Alan

Not a lot of help, but those same levers are used on all cabriolets back through the '32 models.

Thanks for the photos. I am sorry that I cannot offer any help, because I don't know where you could get replacements either. Tom

Do you have the pieces? If you do, there are companies that can put it together and make a mold from the pieces and cast it in brass.

Check with Wescott's in Oregon. He has been casting a lot of hard to find parts for convertible tops, etc. www.wescottsauto.com This message was edited by trjford8 on 3-31-19 @ 10:59 AM

In answer to woody wagon 46, I do not have the parts that have broken off. I very much appreciate the picture of what the parts are supposed to look like. I will check out West cards in Oregon but everything I have learned so far says that this will be a tough search. I find that the top can be put up and stretched nicely without the extension pieces and since the dealer that sold me the car will not help me with the broken parts, I’ve been I believe I will back burner this for the present time. In case it helps someone, I believe the parts were broken off because someone tried to pry the top wrinkle free with the levers. The proper way to do this is to push up on the third bow and then gently move the levers into place. Yes I can do even with the ends broken off. Thanks to all for your help.

D, that piece would not be that hard to make at all. Take these pic's showing a what stock handle should look like to a machine Shop with the length of the handle and I'm sure they can machine you a new handle that will look like stock. You could spend months looking for that part and never find it. Rog

Here in Brazil , I’m restoring a 1937 Convertible Sedan, and one of the levers was broken too. The Plate Shop onwer that chrome plated parts for me did a reproduction of these levers . I can provide you his contact if you want. I will post some pictures of it next monday. It looks nice and very close to perfection. I know that he could replicate it, because he already have the castings.

Don Sommer, American Arrow Corporation, (248-435-6115) reproduced the top iron levers, with links and rollers, for me in stainless steel for '35-'36 cabriolets. They are very similar to the levers needed here. Customer Order No. 77489, Invoice No. 00001787.
