Hi Guys, I need some help on identifying the model of this 1937 truck. So here is what I have been told, it is a 2 1/2 ton truck which has a manual trans with a pto out put. I have searched countless pictures on line and to me they all look the same. Trying to buy parts without a model number is terrible to say the least. I am trying to update some things for a good buddy, this was his grandpa's truck that started his biz that he now runs. Thanks in advance for any and all info!

The model number is "79" for 1937 trucks: 1 1/2 ton. I have a 1937 dump truck with PTO and hydraulic dump body made by Garwood. The WD is 131" with 4 speed transmission. My brother has a 1936 mechanical dump and the model number for 1936 is "51". I do not think Ford anything bigger than a 1 1/2 truck in 1937. The truck engines had a "double" pulley water pumps (two fan belts)for 1935-1937. Henry Henry Bhotto1928@aol.com

Here is some more information - Henry is correct, any parts should start with the prefix 79- The body type is a Dump/Chassis Cab and is 93C, so a 1937 Ford 1 1/2 Ton truck would be 79-93C Please note that many things are similar to 1/2 ton 1937 pickups, mostly in the cab area. The door handles, the glove box, the gauges, and seat. You may find that searching for parts at a truck repair facility as a place to start. They may have the equipment to repair brake shoes as an example. Hope this helps.

Hello, I'm new here as well. I've got a 1937 1 1/2 ton as well. Model 79 is correct. I do not have the PTO option or the dump option. My numbers all match and I'm wondering if there's a way to tell if this is an 85 or higher horsepower. I've been told they made a 95 or 100 horsepower engine back then. The 85 chrome trim piece is still on the truck. I'm always open to suggestions or help too!! Thanks Doug

It should have the 85 HP 21 stud engine. The 95HP engine came out in 1938 with 24 stud heads. Tom
