New here, I have a 1942 Ford M-H it has original gears, 6?? Something. It cruise's around 30mph. I looking to get it up to 45-50 mph. Does anyone know if there are any overdrive units made for a 42 flathead v8? Anyone sell ring and pinion gears that would fit this rear? Any other Marmon Herrington info would be appreciated. Thanks Donn

Only way out is a auxillary with overdrive installed (rear) of the transfer case such as three speed under drive-direct drive and over drive. I doubt high speed ring & pinions don't exist cause these trucks were not built for highways but built for power co. the rail road = way in the untamed woods. I have a Marmon with snow plow and any plowing over 20 mph I consider is a fool when you grab a manhole cover. Thats the route I would take a little drive shaft work, little welding is way eaiser that messing with axles.
