Adjusting the top is one of the jobs that I recommend paying a professional to do. If you do it wrong, you could damage the top mechanism. Tom

Terry, if you can find a 1949-1951 Ford shop manual, there are instructions on how to make the adjustments for convertibles of those years. There are some differences from the 47 Ford / Mercury top, but the principal and most adjustments are similar enough to help you. Here is picture of my 48 Ford which is the same, red tape show the bolts that do the Adjusting. Also there is movement where it bolts do the mounting plate. Hope this helps
