I read a thread RE: Forty Ford Heaters

was there a option for a heater. My Owners Manual doesnt reflect any heater/defroster option. I am sure I am not well informed. What do you experts have to say

thanks Much

Dale

Start working your way through the titles of the threads and you will come upon much discussion about both the hot water and hot air heaters.

Dale, The owner manual does not call out any "options".
There was both a hot water heater as well as a hot air heater in 1940.
I have attached two photos that will in part depict each type.

  Thanks again
Both were apparently removed in the past during restoration in my coupe

Dale, it is possible that your coupe never had a heater. Both heaters were extra cost items and cars that were sold new in the warmer climates were seldom equipped with the heater.

Hi Dale--The tiny little 1940 Ford Accessories Booklet shows pictures of both the Hot Water and Hot Air heaters. Both could be purchased in 1940 for your new car - for $21.00.

If you haven't purchased Mike's outstanding book "It's Ford For '40" yet - highly recommended. Chapter 5 deals exclusively with Accessories, and discusses both the hot water and hot air heaters. Go to the dark blue part of your screen, click on "Online Store", then click on the link for "Ford Books".

Good luck with your Coupe and have a nice weekend.
