How do I adjust the tightness of the front and rear brake drum locknut on a 46 Merc?

If I understand what your talking about.Rear nut is over 100 ft. # maybe more. Front is a bearing adjust not very tight , just enough to eliminate shakefrom top to bottom of wheel an tire.. ken ct. Your NOT adjusting the wheel bearings at the rear.

Yes. Thank you! I put new wheel cylinders, master cylinder and shoes all the way around and the rear wheels are very difficult to turn even with the brake adjustment all the way down and the emergency brake off.

Did you back off both the brake shoe adjustments and the emergency brake cable adjustment?
