In my '36 1.5 ton, there are gauge clusters (oil/gas & temp/amp) on each side of the speedometer, which I believe is the same as the pickup. The gas gauge is hydrostatic. Will the passenger car cluster with the electric gas gauge fit in the same space?

Thanks. That opens more options. The hydrostatic sender comes out of the bottom of the gas tank. Is there any way to convert this to electric?

The electric sending unit must be mounted in the top of the tank. You might look for a later under seat tank (37-40) that uses the electric sending unit. I would look for a NOS or a good used one. I don't know of any body that makes a replacement tank. Be sure that you measure the tank and mounting points as a later tank may not be a direct replacement. Tom

So, in the trucks, they started putting the electric sender in as of '37? I'm assuming that a pickup tank will work, although I recall that, at least in the '36, the pickup has the gas filler on the outside and the big truck is inside the cab.

I think that you will find that in 1936 (at least the 112 wheel base) there were electric tank gauges.

I have a 41 truck (3/4 ton and up same) I used a poly fuel tank in between the frame rails under the stake bed body. I really did not want the fuel tank under my butt!! I have a 41 under seat fuel tank with top mounted sender if you are interested.

I have the same situation and plan on drilling a hole in the top to install the electric sending unit. I just hope it works out fine.

Let me know how the tank alteration goes voced. It would be nice to stay with the original tank configuration, but with an electric sending unit.
