'39 - '48 backing plates will work. '39 - '42 have the lower as well as the top adjusters. '46 - '48 have the floating lower anchor points, much easier to adjust.

If I change to hyd brakes what year backing plates will fit the wide 5 brake drums? What years are the floating style and the self adjusting style? Thanks

1938FordPU The pictures show cable operated brakes, that are original to the truck. The brake drums have been changed to '40-'48 drums to accommodate the later wheels.

38Pickup LOOKS like 42MERC is correct you have the original mechanical brakes I guess the photos were not to clear to me.,but you will need to find 4 1939 to 1948 backing plates, the 1942 to 1948 have larger ft wheel cylinders if you want hydraulic brakes, the steering wheel is off a different year car, a close up of the horn button might give us a clue the column looks correct, cause it attaches to the dash board correctly, and ignition switch looks ok. the dash gauges look like 37 gauges, a close up would help to determine if they are correct, if you can get a few aftermarket V8 vendors catalog would help you C and G EARLY FORD PARTS, www.cgfordparts.com request a parts catalog or view online, has a correct steering wheel, part # 78-3600 page 50 for $195.00 it hard to find a nice original you will also need to get a light switch rod for the center of steering wheel is there any the light switch parts on the bottom of column ? JOINING this V8 FORD CLUB, if not already a member , THEY HAVE A GREAT MAGAZINE BI MONTHLY which has much information, hope this helps 1937RAGTOPMAN

HI 38 Pickup those wheels are much later, in the 1950's FORDS, can you take a picture of the Front axle to see if that is original, cause you will need 5 WIDE wheels, and brake drums, the backing plates if 1939 1948 FORD will work,if that is what is on the truck, also the spare tire bracket is missing on the Right side,of pickup bed, hope this helps 1937RAGTOPMAN

I have only had this truck for about 2 months and these are the wheels that are on it now. They are 15 inch rims I and didn't think these were the stock rims.
