Mike - I have always been under the impression that: An 39 /40 open car cowl was EXACTLY the same, which would then mean = the windshield garnish moldings would be the same 39 & 40 NOTE: the 39 DEFROST openings are 4 inches +/- where a 40 DEFROST opening is 7 1/2 inches, the important thing is BOTH 39 - 40 have the exact same sized opening (top to bottom & side to side). Thanks Mike

The glass size for the 37-40 convertibles is the same and so is the rubber seal, so a 37-40 trim should fit, but they are different enough that the earlier ones would be noticeable in a 40.

I am trying to install the glass in my 40 Ford Convertible, It appears with the rubber around each piece that it goes in from the inside of the car but I do not see based on the picture in the 40 book how it is held in. Does the chrome strip go on the out side. Does someone have a U tube of the installation or explain to me how this works before I break the glass many thanks Tom

First thing to install are the rustless steel trim pieces on both sides. The glasses with rubbers are then installed against the trim pieces from the inside of the vehicle. Then, lastly, the interior trim pieces are installed. It is the interior trim that holds the glass and outer trim securely in place. Kind of a "sandwich" effect.
