The gas tank in my 51 F2 truck releases pressure when i remove the cap and the tank expands and makes a boom sound. Is this normal ?

Sounds like wrong gas cap or cap vent is plugged.

That is what it was. this was also the cause of the stalling problem that i was having. Thanks

Caddy 40 let me add something here. Fill the tank up and make sure all that expanding and contracting hasn't broken open any seams or fittings.
