Topic: 1932 V8 Large Truck 4 speed transmission

Is the above described transmission case unique to the 1932 V8 large truck, or is it interchangeable with others, say a 35 or 36? I removed it from a parts truck that had a V8 and I am wondering if the length of the case makes it a one year only application. This transmission uses no bell housing, bolting directly to the V8 block. I had a 1933 Large truck that used a bell housing and a trans case similar to the four cylinder BB model. I have noticed that 35 and 6 trans look similar in length but have not been able to measure them. Thanks!

The serial number on the trans case is BB18-2200687. This does not seem to fit with the 1932 BB trucks serial numbers that all start with 5. It does fit with the seven digits of the truck serial numbers, cars having 6 digits. The number starting with 2 may fit in the Model 18 vehicle numbering system as it would be late in the year, when the first V8 trucks were produced. The Chassis Parts List 1928 to 1937 does not even list a part number for a 4 speed V8 transmission case. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Do you have any pictures of your transmission? We have 2 4 speed transmissions from '32 4 cylinders. I thought that the case may have been the same, but with different bellhousings.

The transmission case is still dirty and stripped of it's internals as I cannibalized it to fix my BB four speed trans. I don't think a picture would come out very clear. The overall length is 12" and the diameter of the flange (front) is 13". A BB four speed is 9" in overall length and uses a separate bell housing. The only difference in the internals appears to be a very short input shaft on the V8 transmission. It' confusing since a 33 V8 truck has a trans case identical to a 32BB 4 cyl. and the 35 and 36 V8 trans cases look similar to a 32V8. Additionally, a recent post on the trucks forum questions whether an 18 prefix serial number would be original to a 34 truck. According to the Wagner "Trucks" book 32 V8 trucks are few in number and I thought that someone out there may need an original case. Does anyone out there have a 34, 35 or 36 large truck with an 18 prefix?
