Topic: Top Question on Tudor

My 32 Tudor has a nice top, but something is missing. I bought the car from a family of the deceased owner, so I can get no info from the owner. The vinyl around the top lays flat as I assume it should, but the nail heads are visible in the groove. I think a cap or vinyl bead is supposed to cover this groove and the nail heads. Is that correct? Not sure of proper terminology, but is this bead/cap of vinyl available? If so what do you ask for? Thanks,Lou

Your top is held down with a metal tack strip. There is a slot in the center of the strip where the nails go to hold down the strip. A rubber bead is then pushed down in the center strip to cover the nails and seal out water. Most of the V-8 parts suppliers have the rubber seal. If you are new to 32 Fords I would also recommend that you buy the 32 Ford restoration manual put out by the Early Ford V-8 Club. This book will give you a lot of great information on your car. It can be purchased on-line from this site or by calling 707-226-5256 between 9:00ma and 6:00pm PST.
