Topic: 1936 LB Rear slinger help!

  Hello!

I have a 1936 LB block and I have the "top" slinger that inserts into the block, but I do not seem to have any slinger that inserts into the rear main bearing cap. When I pulled the engine apart I replaced the rear main and sent it to the machine shop. It was so dirty I did not realize if there was anything inside the rear main cap or not. The machine shop says there was none and did return the "top" one that goes into the block, but none for the bottom.

I looked around and found one on Red's V8 (78-6336) and purchased it because it said for the 1936 LB block, but it does not fit into my rear main cap.

So, my question is if there is a part that goes into the rear main bearing cap or not? I can see it working either way so I wanted to ask the experts!

Yes, there is a hole with a pipe on the bottom of the rear main bearing cap. My question was if there is a baffle that is inserted into the main bearing cap that helps the slighter, much like the top. I was told there are two "sh*lls" one on the top and one on the bottom. I only have one on the top.

You will likely get more attention to your question if you post it under the "general Ford discussion" part of the forum rather than the '32 Ford discussion as you have done.

I have a 1937 21 stud engine that is the same as yours. I also purchased the 78-6336 baffle before I realized the rear main cap was not machined for it. I plan to assemble the engine as it was originally, without anything in the rear main cap.
