Do the draincocks point to the inside of the frame or straight down? Is the front of the block on both sides of the crankshaft plain or are there flame shaped holes about 1 " deep? I have a 32 & a 34 block but I,m not shure which is the 32. nwjm

The '32 block is unique in that the drain cocks point straight down while starting with the '33s, they are at about a 45 degree angle. There are no cavities on either side of the timing gear cover on '32 (and some early '33) cylinder blocks. Those cavities were added early in '33 V8 engine production.

Because the Ford of Australia Job #1 dates were months behind those in North America due to their bodies being made locally, the V8 engines supplied by their parent company, Ford of Canada, for a limited time had their block castings with provisions for both drain cock locations so that their engines could be used in both '32 and '33 models at the same time.

3W2, Thanks. Is the draincock similar to a model A? Norm

There were two types of petcocks used in production of '32 fours and V8s. One is shaped like an upside down T and the other is sort of pot bellied. Both are carryovers from the Model A and are primarily made of brass. No doubt they were the products of two different outside suppliers to Ford.
