Topic: 1940 Ford Standard Coupe

Recently purchased a 1940 Ford Standard coupe. There is a small hole on the top of the dash - just in front of the steering wheel. I've seen other 40 Ford dashes, and they have a very small red light mounted there. Can someone tell me what this light is for. Looks like it might have been some type of warning light (maybe a parking brake applied warning light???) Thanks for any help.

Hi beam indicator light. For further questions on your 40 there is a dedicated 40 section.

Thanks Paul. I should have thought of that! Thanks for your help & the info on the '40 section.

  Good Morning--

Paul's description is perfect. Some of us "old timers" always referred to that tiny light as the High Beam Indicator "Jewel" due to its red color.

The 1940 Forum section should help you tremendously on your future questions.

Merry Christmas.
