Topic: Cabriolet frame assembly

As I get ready to assemble axles, linkages, and other components to the frame, is the attaching hardware (nuts, bolts, etc.) painted or not? I have purchased new correct hardware that is Raven colored and wasn't sure if they were left unpainted as it was assembled at the factory. This to be a point judged car so I need to be accurate in my assembly. Thanks.

Presumably the raven finish that you mention is what Ford labeled S-2 and fasteners with that finish were used throughout a '32's chassis as is. An S-4 finish was S-2 with black paint and it was used on exposed fasteners such as the nuts and lock washers on the bumper bolts and the heads of the bolts that attached the tail lamp bracket/bumper bracket/ frame horn cover to the rear of the chassis frame.
