Topic: 1941 Ford Headlight

Sorry, I have what may seem like a basic question but I am a newbie. Anyway, I need to change the headlight on my 1941 Ford. I removed the setscrew from the headlight surround but am not sure how to get off the surround once I remove the screw. Do i just pry it off so that I can then access and change the headlight or is there some trick to removing it? I did not want to risk damaging anything so I figured I would ask first. I have the replacement headlight; just need to figure out how to get to the old one to remove and replace it. Thanks!

There is a tab on top of the headlight bucket that the headlight trim ring sort of hooks on. Once you remove the trim around the headlight, gently pull out and lift up on the trim piece and it should come off. If the piece has been on the car along time it may require a little "persuasion". Once the trim ring is removed the lamp itself is held in with a bezel that is held in with three small screws.

Watch what you put in there later model headlite bulbs have 3 nubs that stick out and they were not made for 41 buckets. You can get them ground off at a glass shop if present. Their locating nubs to locate the bulb at the right position. ken ct.

Buckyboy, welcome, and don't apologize for asking questions. That's what we're here for.

Consider putting some masking tape around the back edge between the fender and the rim so as not to chip any paint.
