Hello Everyone, We've just recently learned this breaking news. The National Capital Regional Group of the Early Ford V8 Club of America is delighted to be able to announce that they have been selected to host the 2016 Eastern National Meet. The dates are Monday August 8th through Thursday August 11th, 2016. The location is Gettysburg, PA. I'm not over-selling it when I say that this is a world-class destination that offers a staggering number of family-friendly entertainment and educational opportunities, without Washington DC, or New York City type prices. The meet theme is: "Come back for some fun, with the Ford forty-one." It is the 75th anniversary for the 1941 model year. While the ENM will be held at the same venue as the 2014 meet, plans will include a new schedule of events and tours to enhance some of the favorites and standards. Organizers also managed to negotiate a LOWER HOTEL RATE than in 2014, and they've LOWERED EARLY VEHICLE REGISTRATION TO $75! When was the last time you heard of the price going down on something? Expect the Meet to bring back popular activities like the Ice Cream Social with Entertainment, and Movie Night. But it will also be having all-new Garage, Bus, and Driving tours. If you were lucky enough to come in 2014, I'll bet you left town saying things like "I wish I'd had time to see _____" and, "That was a lot of fun, but I missed _____." We hope you'll want to come back and make some new cherished memories with your flathead friends. If you missed it in 2014, now's your chance to see what everyone keeps talking about. We invite everyone to enter their modified Steel-Bodied Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles in our Display Class which will feature awards. This news is so fresh, the meet organizers are still pulling together details, but they wanted everyone to know so y'all can set your plans. Note: If I edit this post, I'll note what the changes are, so be sure to check this original post occasionally. The host hotel is the Wyndham Gettysburg, with the Courtyard Gettysburg right next door. The venue features trailer parking with night patrols, restaurants, a brew-pub, movie theater featuring first-run movies, and plenty of paved space for our clan-gathering. There's a free shuttle from the hotels to downtown and attractions along the way. The Concourse and Swap Meet are open to the public, and if you can't come to the Concourse, then a drive through the hotel parking lot any time during the Meet is just like going to a car show! Official Meet Events are limited to registered attendees and guests. Some events require a payment to attend. Please mark your calendar now and plan to join us for some unforgettable fun! Thank you! -Members of National Capital Regional Group #36 EDIT July 26th 2015: Details have been firmed up. We invite everyone to enter their modified Steel-Bodied Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles in our Display Class which will feature awards. (EDIT TO ADD: Alternative drivetrains allowed.) SOME CLARIFICATION HERE! WHILE WE WILL OFFER A DISPLAY CLASS AT THE ENM 2016 IN GETTYSBURG, EVERYONE NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT IF AWARDS ARE GIVEN IN THIS CLASS, THEY WILL HAVE NO NATIONAL V8 CLUB RECOGNITION ON THE AWARD AND THE AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN AT A DIFFERENT TIME DURING THE MEET. IN 2014, THE DISPLAY AWARDS WERE GIVEN OUT AT THE ICE CREAM PARTY. IT'S LIKE HAVING TWO SHOWS IN ONE LOCATION AT THE SAME TIME. THESE ENTRY'S WILL NOT BE PARKED AMONG THE OTHER CLASSES. Cecil E Polan President, RG 36 Shiny side up! Cecil/WV

For those V8er's that have not spent a week in Gettysburg, don't miss this opportunity to see it. Go early and stay after. There is plenty to see. I'm sure the hosts will offer plenty of side tours and places to visit. Take them all! The battlefield can be driven in your V8's and then take the bus tour to learn the real story. The battlefield alone takes a few days to understand the enormity of that 3 day battle. Go eat at the Dobbin House in downtown, tell then I sent you. (Paul Dobbin) If you don't want to go in the evening, go to the Springhouse Tavern in the basement for lunch. (Alexander Dobbin had 19 kids, the house was used as a hospital by both sides during the Civil War) Visit Eisenhower's Gettysburg farm, Boyd's Bear Country, Land of Little Horses, the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, beautiful country side and a short ride to Hershey for the AACA Museum. Great roads for V8's. We did it all in our 1934 Ford with 282 other pre WWII vehicles on the 2007 Glidden Tour and we had another couple in the back seat. Take another car couple with you and you'll add to the fun and adventure. 1934 Ford's since 1972

Hi Everyone, I have to admit one of the spookiest things I've ever done was visit the battlefield as late in the day as legally possible. As it gets dark the vibe really changes. The Pennsylvania memorial is very impressive at that hour. -VT/JeffH

Hi Everyone, I sure had fun at the 2016 Eastern National Meet! I like the cars, but it's the people, my friends, that make it so enjoyable. Judging sure is a lot of work! But it doesn't compare to the work we didn't see! Thanks to all the club members who could make it! And a very special thanks to the large number of RG36 members who volunteered so many hours, working hand-in-hand with our national representatives (who are volunteers also, remember). It was a big effort from all of you, and I'm pretty sure everyone enjoyed themselves because of it! Regional Group 96 from Northern Virginia put in many hours doing operations checks for each and every vehicle. (Some of them more than once? Yes, me.) They are host group for next year's ENM in Chantilly June 7-11! http://www.nvrg.org/ Special THANKS to RG36 members Todd Wilmer and Andrew Wilmer, these two young scholars are headed to Clemson S.C., today, Friday, reporting for their Freshman year. They've been V-8 Club Members since birth. These gentlemen, and their parents and grandparents have earned my sincere thanks, congratulations, and best wishes. -VT/JeffH This message was edited by VT/JeffH on 8-12-16 @ 6:47 PM

My sincere thanks as well to RG36 and RG96 for a Great Meet! Excellent activities, driving tours and most of all new and positive people to meet as well as very enjoyable entertainment Tuesday & Wednesday evenings! My wife and I had a fantastic time and truly enjoyed the entire week! My thanks also to everyone on the Forum for your knowledge and support - the attached pic is a tribute and testimony to all you've done to support the preservation of this '47 that made the almost 1,000 mile journey, much of it either in the rain or in extended periods in 96+ degree temps, all without any mechanical issues. For all you and EFV8 also have done in this regard I am extremely grateful. Already looking forward to Chantilly in 2017! Steve
