The crankcase breather shares the same riser as the fuel pump pushrod. This tube is engineered to help vent the crankcase. The normal process (1932-1948) was that a slight vacuum was produced by the vent at the front corner of the oil pan, and atmospheric air was introduced into the breather cap at the rear of the intake manifold. Now, if you pack this riser with grease you will essentially stop the airflow. Yes, it will probably eliminate ward off moisture, but more importantly, it will stop airflow. So....question being, are you interested in moisture, or a properly vented system. I'd vote for a properly vented system.
